The Simpson County Water District promotes education in the water supply field by offering an annual scholarship to a graduating high school senior. Hunter Owens of Franklin-Simpson High School was presented with a $1,000 scholarship to Western Kentucky University for the 2019-2020 academic year at the school’s award program held on May 8.
“Hunter has overcome his fair share of obstacles, which have only helped him to further appreciate the Simpson County community. He demonstrates a giving spirit by participating in various volunteer efforts in the community and is also valued by his peers, who voted for him for the People’s Choice in Business award and as Most Dependable & Outstanding Band member. We are excited to offer assistance as he furthers his higher education endeavors in business,” said SCWD General Manager John Dix. “This scholarship is another way we can serve our community and our customers.”
“In an effort to foster success of future water utility professionals the scholarship is offered to assist a Simpson County high school senior pursuing further education in a related field. The scholarship is renewable for four years, as long as requirements are maintained.
